Enlightening the Community
Throughout the years, Emmanuel Methodist Matriculation Higher Secondary School has always been committed in servitude to uplift this overlooked community of Pudur village. To most of these villagers, education seemed like a far-fetched dream that they couldn’t afford for themselves or their children. Cast aside by caste differences and traditional bias, most of the people here often resorted to their fate and dared not to dream.
Empowered by prayer, we marched forward; going door-to-door with a mission to bring these children to school and make them the first-generations academic learners in their families and generations before them.
Plagued by obstacles, our motivation never faded. Our servitude was rewarded through the support by organizations such as World Vision and Compassion International, who helped to mobilize funds to improve our infrastructure, educational resources, initiate student welfare programs such as mid-day meals, cost free uniforms, stationery, books and note books, and much more.
Our community welfare programs include life skill seminars for adults and training women from various spheres in adopting skills that would enable them to financially assist their families.
Through all our ups and downs, our most prolific achievement has been our commitment to proclaim the Word of God to children and people from the community, making them bear strong witnesses to the transformative power of Christ.
